みまわれる【見舞われる】

〔災難などに〕 be visited 《by…》; be hit [struck] 《by…》.

●災害に見舞われる suffer [be visited by] a calamity; meet with a misfortune

・台風に見舞われる be hit [struck] by a typhoon.

●この地方は毎年豪雨に見舞われている. Every year this area is hit by tremendous downpours.

・日本は長い不況に見舞われている. Japan has been hit by a lengthy depression.
